General Part-Time Level 5 Modules Commencing September 26

All courses are offered part-time over 13 weeks. Applicants will be invited to attend an interview and suitability assessment before a place is offered. Upon successful completion, students will receive a component certificate. This award is designed to build comprehensive proficiency in word processing, enabling you to create professional, “publishable” documents both independently and under direction. You will master essential text and document formatting—including margins, tables, and headers—while utilizing advanced features like mail merges and proofing tools. Additionally, the course emphasizes practical file management and configuration skills to ensure you can efficiently organize, save, and output documents across various professional contexts.

This award equips learners with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to engage in short-term work experience, performing tasks independently under general supervision. Participants will explore career opportunities, understand workplace rights and responsibilities, develop personal and vocational skills, and gain hands-on experience while demonstrating professionalism, communication, and problem-solving. The program also encourages reflection on workplace challenges, feedback, and future education or employment pathways, helping learners prepare a career plan and present their experience effectively.

This award provides learners with the knowledge, skills, and competence to promote and maintain health and safety in the workplace. It covers employer and employee responsibilities under current legislation, the role of the Health and Safety Authority, and the importance of communication, training, and safety statements. Learners will explore accident and fire prevention, risk assessment, use of PPE, and the safe handling of equipment and hazardous materials. The programme also addresses infection control, first aid, and factors influencing workplace safety, enabling learners to contribute effectively to a safe and healthy work environment.
