Course Description:
SE401 Bachelor of Business (Honours) Common Entry is designed to provide you with a gateway to a better choice of business specialism.
Common Entry is a very popular choice with students. You avail of a broad common Years 1 & 2 which will introduce you to various essential business topics along with tasters in more specific business areas. Having gained a better understanding of each subject area, you then choose your preferred pathway to specialise in Years 3 & 4.
The advantage of this course type is that it allows students more time to discover the subjects in which they are most interested.

What are the minimum entry requirements?
- 2 subjects: H5
- 4 subjects: O6/H7
- English or Irish: O6/H7
- Mathematics: O6/H7
Students will study year 1 at Portlaoise Institute and will then complete the final two/three years of the degree programme at SETU’s Carlow campus.
There are no fees for year one of the degree programme provided by Portlaoise Institute. In subsequent years, the normal registration fees will apply, and you will be eligible to apply for a SUSI grant.
Graduates may apply to undertake a Research or Taught Masters at SETU or other universities.
Graduates who meet the Teaching Councils entry requirements can pursue a career in post primary teaching.
Graduates will be equipped with the knowledge, skills and competencies that are demanded in a modern business environment.
The graduate will be qualified to work in a wide range of business settings such as industry, banking, public service, financial services and service industries. The skills you develop can be transferred to many job opportunities, ranging from entry-level to managerial positions.
