Part-Time Creative Arts Courses Commencing September 26<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

All courses are offered on a part-time basis and run for 13 weeks, delivered through a blended learning approach that combines online and in-person elements. This course develops the skills and knowledge needed to create professional illustration graphics for digital and print use. Learners explore suitable hardware and software, document and image file formats, colour modes, printing requirements, and the legal and ethical responsibilities involved in using and publishing designs. Through practical work, they learn to create, edit, save, export, print, and integrate graphics using industry-standard software. The course also encourages originality through the creation of custom text styles and graphics, while building the ability to evaluate existing designs and improve them through thoughtful redesign.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

This course equips learners with the knowledge, skills, and practical competence to use drawing as a creative, expressive, and communicative tool across a range of specialisms. Learners explore historical and contemporary approaches to drawing, experiment with techniques such as line, tone, gesture, perspective, and three-dimensional drawing, and use a variety of media to record, analyse, and interpret subjects. Through research and practical work, learners develop concepts, communicate ideas through sketches, create a sense of form, weight, and volume, and produce a coherent body of work for presentation. The course also supports safe practice and encourages critical reflection on their own work and the work of others.

This course equips learners with the knowledge, skills, and practical competence needed for digital image processing. Learners explore the full image production process, from research, planning, and design through to final output, while developing an understanding of colour reproduction, image manipulation, and the capabilities and limitations of image processing technology. The course also covers appropriate hardware and software, legal and ethical considerations, client communication, research techniques, time management, and working to deadlines. Through practical projects, learners create and evaluate computer-based images for a range of purposes and design briefs.

This course equips learners with the knowledge, skills, and practical competence to develop a range of illustrative styles and techniques for use within graphic design. Learners explore the history of graphic design and illustration, typographic principles, font selection, visual communication, and the commercial considerations involved in producing illustrative work. Through research, idea development, and practical experimentation with different media, learners create finished illustrative pieces that combine text and artwork, communicate clear messages, and demonstrate a personal visual style. The course also develops skills in desktop publishing, portfolio presentation, and maintaining a visual notebook to support the creative process.
