#93003c;\">Complete the first year of a four-year degree in Portlaoise Institute \u2013 then complete the remainder of your degree in SETU\u2019s Carlow Campus!<\/span><\/h3><p>South East Technological University (SETU) and Laois and Offaly Education and Training Board (LOETB) are participating in an Unified Tertiary Project to co-deliver a degree programme in Portlaoise. This programme will give people of Portlaoise and surrounding areas the opportunity to access a third level course in their local area without any requirement for a CAO application.<\/p><p>This course provides a unique blend of business and IT subjects which is viewed by industry as an essential element in the role of a modern IT manager. The course comprises a significant amount of practical work. In particular, Year 1 features continuous assessments with no final year exam, enabling students to monitor progress throughout the year.<\/p><p>On completion of the course, students will<br \/>have a detailed understanding of:<\/p><ul><li>Network systems management,\u00a0advanced database management<\/li><li>Strategic management<\/li><li>Team work and people management skills<\/li><li>Financial information management<\/li><li>Day-to-day IT department management<\/li><\/ul><p>In this four-year course, you will complete the first year in Portlaoise Institute, followed by Years 2, 3 and 4 in SETU\u2019s Carlow Campus.<\/p><p>Students will be registered with SETU from Year 1 and will have access to the full range of services available to all SETU students.
